Researchers are experimenting on organic soils used for sugarcane and rice, including in the Everglades Agricultural Area, to see if this amendment can boost yields, cut fertilizer needs, and support more sustainable farming across Florida. 
• Dozens of houses of worship join PBSO training to strengthen security (cbs12.com) — Houses of worship in Belle Glade, including First Baptist Church of Belle Glade, are joining a new PBSO security effort that launches May 13, offering real-time alerts about nearby threats. Faith leaders from across Palm Beach County attended the training, which pairs this alert system with expanded state laws allowing certain concealed firearms on shared church-school properties.
