• Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties declare states of emergency to battle dengue fever (wusf.org) — Bloomingdale is one of several Hillsborough neighborhoods getting intensified mosquito spraying as the county declares a state of emergency over dengue fever. Local officials urge residents to dump standing water, use EPA-approved repellents, and wear long sleeves, stressing that government spraying alone can't stop the disease's spread and that every Bloomingdale household must help reduce mosquito breeding sites.
   

• Area Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists (ospreyobserver.com) — Bloomingdale High School students Jacob Abraham, Lawrence Derosier, and Emerson Spencer have been named 2027 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them among the nation's top high school scholars. They'll now complete applications, secure recommendations, and meet test score requirements to compete for scholarships, showcasing the strong academic opportunities available to Bloomingdale-area students.
