Choral Evensong September 28

Evensong for the Vigil of the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels will be held at Holy Innocents’ on Sunday, September 28, at 4:00 p.m. The H.I. Parish Choir will be singing the evening canticles by Herbert Sumsion, the Preces and Suffrages by Richard Webster, and Gustav Holst’s setting of “Let all mortal flesh keep silence.” The Lessons are from the Daily Office Lectionary for the Feast of St. Michael and All Angels. (Daniel 12:1-3; Revelation 5:1-14) On the Feast of Michael and All Angels, popularly called Michaelmas, we give thanks for the many ways in which God’s loving care watches over us, both directly and indirectly, and we are reminded that the richness and variety of God’s creation far exceeds our knowledge of it.
