Judo Champions to be Celebrated at Party Saturday
The Sasaki Judo Club of Riverview will honor the young judo athletes.

Judo is an Olympic Sport, and ranks right behind soccer in worldwide popularity.
The Tampa Bay area has 12 young judo players who received first-, second- and third-place medals this summer at one or more of the 2011 Judo Junior National Championships. Their ages range from 7 to 15 and they are:
Kiana Lassalle, Jason Huertas, Jessica Guidry, Peyton Nisy, Katherine Jordan, Gabriella Otterness, Luis Arias, Karina Back, Sarah Subko, Hannah Wagner, Charles Roche, and David Cainas.

Three of them, Charles Roche, Sarah Subko and Hannah Wagner, are ranked #1 and have been selected to compete on USA Judo International competition teams.
Jason Huertas will compete for the U.S. at the Cadet World Championships in Kiev, Ukraine, Aug. 11, while four-time National Champion Sarah Subko and six-time National Champion Charles Roche will both compete at the October Infantile Pan-American Games in Argentina.

The Sasaki Judo Club, 7817 Commerce St., Riverview, in conjunction with Casa Maya Mexican Restaurant, Bar and Grill, 1414 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, is throwing a party to honor their achievements Saturday evening, Aug. 6. The party will start at Casa Maya about 5:30 p.m. and the general public is invited. The restaurant will provide free nachos, sangria, quesadillas and sodas.
