Lady Bandits Win Iron Women Tournament

The Lady Bandits 14/16U Fast-Pitch travel softball team defeated the Clearwater Bullets to win the NSA Iron WomenTournament held in Clearwateron April 29.

The Bandits played five games that Sunday, four games back to back to win out. The Bandits took the last of five lead changes in the back and forth affair, securing a 4-2 victory. The Lady Bandits managed to grab the lead after a strong sixth inning.

It was a great day at the plate for several of the girls, Amanda Bober went 3 for 5, Maddie Lynn went 1-2 with 2 walks, Kristin Beachman went 2-4, Maggie Trgo went 2-4, scoring a run, Kimberly Fulton went 3-5 and scored one run, Dani Reckenwald went 2-4, scoring twice, and Hannah Goldman went 1-2 with and RBI and score a run.

Kristin Beachman took the mound for the Lady Bandits and worked 3 2/3 innings. She allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and stuck out 3 batters. Rian Medley finished the game and worked out of 11 tough situations. She pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on no hits. Very impressive outings for both pitchers. 

During the semi-final game, Hannah Goldmanseverely twisted her ankle while making a spectacular catch in right field. With the Bandits only playing 9 players, Hannah finished the semi-final game and continued to play throughout the entire championship game. That is a sign of a true Iron Woman.

This win was truly a team victory with every player contributing on both sides of the plate.
