Meet The Principal, Help Name The High School

Students and families can meet Principal Dave Brown, who was recently appointed to lead the new high school.

RUSKIN, FL — Right now it's known as High School TTT but the Hillsborough County School Board is hoping the community can come up with a more memorable name for the new high under construction in south Hillsborough County.

Students and parents can meet Principal Dave Brown, who was recently appointed to lead the new high school, and the architects with Harvard Jolly Architecture, which is designing the state-of-the-art campus, Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. in the Lennard High School cafeteria, 2342 E. Shell Point Road, Ruskin.

Students and parents can also submit their recommendations for the name of the new high school and a mascot at the meeting.

This will be the first new high school to open in more than 10 years in Hillsborough County.

The school will provide relief to high schools in the area that are already at or near capacity as a result of the construction boom in south Hillsborough County, with thousands of students expected to be entering Hillsborough County schools over the next three to five years.

Currently, nearby Lennard High School has an enrollment of more than 3,300 and is at 132 percent of capacity. More than 450 students are projected to move into Lennard’s current school boundaries in the next few years.

Anyone who cannot attend the community meetings is encouraged to submit names for consideration for the new school by sending them to school.name@sdhc.k12.fl.us
