Mosaic Named to 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for 3rd Year

For the third year running, The Mosaic Co., with offices in Lithia, was named to the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List.

Moving up 39 spots from last year, Mosaic was ranked 28th on Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 12th annual 100 Best Corporate Citizens List, known as the world's top corporate responsibility ranking based on publicly available information. Mosaic was recognized for its conservation and environmental stewardship efforts, philanthropic projects and its financial and governance transparency.

"At Mosaic, we believe in improving crop yields — to sustain a growing global population — and in improving our environment," said Jim Prokopanko, president and CEO of Mosaic. "Mosaic's inclusion on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List is a reflection of that commitment, and we're proud to receive this recognition of our efforts for the third year in a row."

Mosaic's ranking is based on more than 325 data points in seven categories, including environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial performance and governance. The 100 Best Corporate Citizens List's open and transparent methodology is governed by a Methodology Committee of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association.

  • Approximately 90 percent of all water used in Mosaic’s North American mining and manufacturing operations is reused or recycled.
  • Since 2005, Mosaic’s U.S. operations have reduced direct energy consumption by 21 percent, with a corresponding reduction in limited greenhouse gases of approximately 150,000 tonnes annually.
  • Mosaic owns more than 21,000 acres on which it has proposed, committed or executed a conservation easement to ensure long-term protection of lands or waters of particular sensitivity.

Mosaic also was noted for its philanthropic projects, including donations of product, agronomic expertise and logistics support to its Mosaic Villages Project in Guatemala, India and seven African countries.
