Sheriff Arrests 16-Year-Old For Vandalizing 36 Cars In Riverview

Detectives have apprehended A teenager they believe is behind a rash of car vandalism cases in three Riverview neighborhoods.

RIVERVIEW, FL -- Detectives have apprehended A teenager they believe is behind a rash of car vandalism cases in three Riverview neighborhoods (see related story).

The 16-year-old East Bay High School student was arrested for smashing the windows and scratching the paint on 36 vehicles in the South Fork, South Cove and Summerfield communities in Riverview between 6 and 7 a.m. July 16 using a baseball bat and masonry bricks.

There were 33 victims overall, with total damages estimated to be $10,650.

The teen, who has no criminal history, admitted to the offenses. He was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief ($1,000 or greater) and 32 counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief ($200 to less than $1,000). He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
