📰 News we're reading

1. Boynton Beach Advances Federal Highway Streetscape, Cybersecurity Upgrades And Oceanfront Park Snack Bar Deal (bocapost.com) — Boynton Beach commissioners just advanced several projects that could affect your daily routine, from redesigning Federal Highway and improving drainage in Chapel Hill to tightening nuisance rules and upgrading city cybersecurity. They also approved a new Oceanfront Park snack bar deal and reviewed cemetery policies, playground conditions, and road paving, outlining priorities Mayor Rebecca Shelton tied to the city’s long‑term vision.

2. Plan to widen Boynton Inlet resurfaces, sparking debate over safety, economy and environment (wptv.com) — Boynton Beach officials are revisiting a long-debated plan to widen the Boynton Inlet and replace its bridge, weighing boating safety and economic benefits against serious environmental and erosion concerns. County experts warn that altering this narrow, powerful channel could reshape nearby beaches, reefs, parks, and storm-surge risks for coastal neighborhoods including Ocean Ridge.

3. Air Quality Remains Fine Despite Huge Broward County Brush Fire (bocanewsnow.com) — Air quality in Boynton Beach is currently rated good, staying well below concerning levels despite a massive 7,000-acre brush fire burning in Broward County’s Everglades. Officials say there’s no real threat of the fire reaching Palm Beach County, but they urge residents to be extremely careful with open flames because dry ground conditions make it easy for new fires to start.

4. Palm Beach County communities awarded $4.2 million for safety and infrastructure projects (wpbf.com) — Boynton Beach is getting federal money to build a stronger seawall at Harbor Marina, aiming to better protect the waterfront from flooding and storms while keeping public access open. Nearby cities like Greenacres, Lake Worth Beach and Wellington will use their shares for new emergency operations centers to coordinate hurricane and disaster response.
