10 Places To Watch The Super Bowl

Sundays aren't usually the best bar night of the week for multiple reasons.

Work the next day. The Sabbath. Some bars are closed. Some of us are broke by then.

Things like that.

This week, however, the tables are turned. Sunday looks back and laughs at the usual bar night kings like Friday, Saturday and the emerging Thursday. Thanks to the biggest single sports game in America, this week belongs to Sunday.

And here are 10 places to watch it.

(The Super Bowl, by the way. 6:30 p.m.)

A party at , 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., wouldn’t be complete without live music. The band Rock and a Hard Place are performing live from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. during the kickoff party followed by the game. Jell-O shots are $1, “Super” shots are $2 and buckets of domestic beer are $10. Full food menu available all day.

, 2604 Manatee Ave. E., is hosting a Super Chili Bowl Party with a cook off/open competition throughout the day. Turn in time is 6 p.m. Drink specials, prizes, raffles start at 6:30 p.m. Get there early for the Lingerie Bowl at 4 p.m.

, 406 Old Main St., is hosting its 3^rd Annual Super Bowl Party with free food – patrons are invited to bring in a side dish if they’d like to show off their culinary skills – and drink, bottled beer and pitcher specials.

, 5606 14^th St. W., has all-you-can-eat barbeque from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot with corn hole and horseshoe to keep everyone entertained. There will be giveaways throughout the evening with prizes that include a grill, cooler, Miller Lite blow up chair and a Wii.

Get to , or before the game and get a raffle ticket that will provide two lucky winners with a reserved table for four in a prime viewing spot, Super Bowl memorabilia, a $50 food tab and a $50 Budweiser or Miller Lite tab. Prizes and give aways after each quarter and a chance to win a flat-screen TV or a Keg-er-ator at halftime.

, 3812 Manatee Ave. W., is hosting its usual Super Bowl party with food and drink specials and, of course, lots of wings. Twenty-two televisions and a 10-foot big screen.

(formely known as Mattison's Riverside), 1200 First Ave. W., has eight large-screen televisions, specials on pitchers and bottled beer and contests with prizes each quarter. The menu includes a Cuban pig roast with black beans and rice, oysters on the half shell, chili, wings and more for $19.95 per person. Call (941) 748-8087 for reservations. Party starts at 4 p.m.

Bryan Pub Works, 5942 34^th St. W., is the latest sports bar and restaurant to open in Bradenton – in plenty of time to host a Super Bowl party. All-you-can-eat wings and 10 oz. drafts for only $24.99 on Sunday. Stop by and enter for a chance to win Red Sox tickets.

, 801 Riverside Dr. E., has happy hour specials during the day: $2 domestic bottles, $1.75 drafts, $3 wells, $4 calls, $5 on select premiums, and $4 Smirnoff martinis. More specials on drinks and food during the game.

, 313 Old Main St., is open from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. and will have beer and food specials throughout the day. Plenty of televisions surrounding the bar to watch the game.

Aside from Super Bowl Sunday, there are a few other things happening in Bradenton this weekend:

• Tim Elliott & CCB is bringing its Carolina twist to classic, outlaw and line dance favorites this Friday and Saturday night at , 5520 14^th St. W. Doors open at 8 p.m. both nights. No cover. 18 to get in, 21 to drink.
• Finally Friday! That’s the name of the weekly special at , 5627 14^th St., that's offering new and lower prices on drafts. From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday most draft beers are $1.85, Pabst Blue Ribbon drafts are $1.50 and domestic pitchers are $6. From 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the prices tick up a bit, but not bad for a Friday night: $2.50 for most drafts, $2 PBR drafts and $8 for domestic pitchers. Any flavor of Smirnoff Bombs are $3.50.
• RJ’s Lounge, 702 9^th Ave. W., has reggae, hip hob and R&B music Friday by DJ Cue from 9 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. and drink specials until 11:30 p.m. Cover: $5 before 11:30 p.m. and $10 after. 18 to get in, 21 to drink.
• , 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., is hosting a Tribute to Freddie King on Saturday. Live music starts at 9 p.m. from The Doug Deming Band, Devin Neel and Andrew Gohman. Also performing are Steve Arvey, Rebecca Bird and The Blue Lightning Band. The featured artists will be performing three Freddie King songs backed by Deming and Arvey, Blue Lightning will be performing songs from its new Freddie King tribute album. Tickets are $5.
