BRADENTON, FL — Sixteen animals were rescued from “deplorable living conditions” at a Bradenton home Saturday night, according to a news release from Bradenton police.

Officers initially responded to a verbal domestic incident at a home in the 1800 block of 13th Street West around 7 p.m. A woman at the home allowed them to search the residence for weapons.

During this search, officers found 14 dogs in crates stacked in the home’s entryway and in a bedroom. Two cockatiels were also found in the home.

The crated dogs were sitting in their own feces and urine and didn’t have access to water, police said. There was also no air conditioning in the home, extreme clutter, piles of garbage and visible insects.

Manatee County Animals Services responded to the home to provide immediate aid to the animals and safely remove them. The woman at the home agreed to surrender the animals.
