2 Children Killed In Manatee County Crash: FL Highway Patrol

A man and a woman were also seriously injured in a Manatee County crash that killed two children, Florida Highway Patrol said.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL — Two children were killed in a Manatee County crash that also left a man and a woman with serious injuries, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Because of the wet roadway, a 43-year-old Winter Haven man lost control of the SUV he was driving west on State Road 62, near County Road 39, Saturday afternoon around 6:30 p.m.

The SUV traveled off the road and hit a concrete power pole, the agency said.

The driver and one of his passengers, a 34-year-old Mulberry woman, were brought to Blake Medical Center.

Two children in the car — 15-year-old and 11-year-old boys, both of Mulberry — were pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
