2 Decomposed Bodies Found During Lakewood Ranch Welfare Check: Sheriff

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL — The decomposed bodies of a 74-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman were found after a wellness check at their Lakewood Ranch condo Friday afternoon, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Deputies checked on the couple, who lived in Lake Vista Condos, around 1:30 p.m., after being contacted by the woman’s sister, who hadn’t heard from them for a week.

They were found dead in their home from what detectives believe was a murder-suicide, MCSO said.

Because of how decomposed the bodies were, the victims weren't positively identified immediately and their names haven’t been released, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
