2 Suspects Arrested Days After Robbery, Shooting Death: Sheriff

Two suspects were charged in the death of a 47-year-old man who was shot, killed during a Saturday afternoon robbery, MCSO said.

BRADENTON, FL — Two suspects have been arrested following the Saturday afternoon shooting death of a 47-year-old in Bradenton, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Detectives identified Larry Johnson. Jr., 31, and Benjamin Johnson, Jr., 30, as suspects in the shooting. Both suspects, who are not related, were arrested Thursday evening and have been charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators have also released the name of the shooting victim, Andre J. Cummings.

Larry and Benjamin were at Cumming’s home in the 5800 block of 3rd Street East around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when an argument broke out and multiple shots were fired. The motive appears to be robbery, the sheriff’s office said.

Cummings was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital, where he died from a single gunshot wound to his side, the sheriff’s office said.
