BRADENTON, FL — An Ellenton daycare worker was arrested and charged Wednesday with aggravated child abuse after security camera footage showed her hitting a four-month-old infant and twisting their right leg, Bradenton Police reported.

On Sept. 16, Bradenton Police Department detectives responded to Manatee Memorial Hospital to assist Child Protective Services investigate a four-month-old child suffering a leg fracture, BPD said in a news release. An investigation found that the incident occurred at Laugh and Learn Daycare at 200 3rd Ave. E in Bradenton, right across from Manatee Memorial Hospital. The infant was later transferred to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to review security camera footage, which showed 42-year-old employee Thalia Camarillo of Ellenton hitting the infant with an open hand several times. Camarillo is then shown “aggressively twisting and bending the infant’s right leg,” which caused the leg fracture.
