5 Best Concessions At McKechnie Field
Forget the baseball games — the food may be the best part about a day at the ballpark. Here are our picks for what to eat and drink this spring.
Why just buy some peanuts and Cracker Jack?
When you're at this spring, you can have a cheese steak, BBQ nachos, funnel cake or a corn dog.
And there's also food with international flavor — from Italian ice by Nikki's Nice Ice to Greek baklava to a Mexican sausage called the MexiDog.

Of course, you've got the old standbys too, like a cheeseburger, hot dog or chicken tenders.
Thirsty? Wash it down with a soda, Gatorade, sweet tea or a fresh lemonade straight from Bradenton's resident juice company, Tropicana.

And for dessert, how about cotton candy or some ice cream from the Cold Stone Creamery stand?
That's just a sampling of the culinary choices to be found at Pittsburgh Pirates spring training in Bradenton this year. We recently stopped by our historic ballpark to sample some of the eats (tough assignment, we know) to bring you our top menu selections. But we also want to know what you think! Check out our list and then post a comment below about your favorite food that can be found at McKechnie's concession stands.
Now, the top five, in no particular order:
1. Dad's Kettle Corn: The stand, located in the outdoor concession area behind the merchandise store serves up its old fashioned kettle corn in small ($5) and large ($10) portions. They've also got carmel corn, butter-flavored popcorn and a "popcorn of the day." We dare you to resist buying some after getting a whiff.
2. Hoagie or wrap from the Philadelphian: For just five bucks you can get one in Italian, ham, turkey, tuna, egg salad or even a vegan at the Philadelphian's concession stand. For $3 more you can "make it a Bucco" by adding fries and slaw, just like they do at Primanti Bros. in the 'Burgh.
3. Turkey leg from Boneyard BBQ: Embrace your inner caveman by picking up a hulking $7 turkey leg and eat on the go. This could come in handy if you're trying to snag a fly ball and chow down at the same time. Or, for classier types, Boneyard also serves up pulled pork and BBQ chicken.
4. Meal Deal at Demetrios' Pizza House: Ten bucks gets you a slice of pizza, Greek salad and a drink at this stand operated by the at 1720 Cortez Rd. W. They've got you covered for dessert, too, with $3.50 slices of peanut butter fudge pie and cheesecake ($4 for strawberry). And don't forget the baklava!
5. Beer: What's a ballgame without a cold brew? There's some good selection to be found around the stadium, from a Corona tall boy to some Pennsylvania-based favorites — Iron City, IC Light, Yeungling and Rolling Rock — at the Pitt-Stop. Remember to always drink responsibly ... and to buy a round for your neighbors in the bleachers.
