6-Year-Old Boy Rescued From Tree by Bradenton Policeman

The boy climbed up the tree to escape discipline from his teacher, according to police.

It’s common knowledge that the police officers, firefighters and superheroes of the silver screen will stop to help terrified kittens escape when they get stuck up in a tree.

But a Bradenton police officer has brought tree-climbing rescues out of the movies and onto the campus of Ballard Elementary School, 912 18th Avenue in Bradenton. Instead of saving a kitten, however, he saved a first-grader.

Sgt. Anthony Cerniglia climbed a tree outside the elementary school to coax down a six-year-old boy who allegedly climbed up around 1:09 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3 to escape punishment, according to The Bradenton Herald.
