6-Year-Old From Bradenton Seriously Hurt In Crash: Police

Several others involved in the crash were also injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A 6-year-old girl was seriously hurt and several others suffered minor injuries in a crash Sunday in northern Sarasota County, according to state police.

The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. on University Parkway at Legacy Boulevard, police said. The driver of an SUV failed to yield while turning left and was struck by another SUV, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The child, from Bradenton, was in the first SUV, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, police said. In the same vehicle was the driver, a 32-year-old man from Bradenton, who was not hurt, as well as a 33-year-old woman and a 54-year-old woman, both of whom were from Bradenton and had minor injuries, according to police.

The second SUV was driven by a 42-year-old man who had a 48-year-old woman passenger, police said, noting both were from Skokie, Illinois, and suffered minor injuries.

The crash is under investigation.
