📰 News we're reading

• Man tracked Bradenton woman using Apple AirTag ‘as retaliation,' police say (bradenton.com) — A Bradenton woman’s alert about an unknown Apple AirTag led police to uncover an illegal tracking device hidden in her car’s wheel well. A Sarasota man has since been convicted and sentenced to probation, after detectives used Apple records to link him to the tag. Authorities say the case stemmed from a prior fatal shooting ruled self-defense.

• Bradenton City Hall could temporarily move into Manatee County Administration Building as sale nears closing (fox13news.com) — Bradenton is close to finalizing the $14.1 million sale of its waterfront City Hall and may temporarily move operations into the Manatee County Administration Building downtown. The shift would clear the way for “The Vias,” a mixed-use project, while keeping City Hall services in the urban core as officials decide on a permanent home.

• City said a Bradenton Riverwalk park would close for a month. Plans have changed (bradenton.com) — Families who rely on Bradenton’s Riverwalk splash pad this summer can relax a bit: most of Rossi Park, including playgrounds, pavilion, restrooms and the splash pad, will now stay open during shade-structure construction. Only the lawn will close fully, with brief splash pad shutdowns when heavy equipment moves through.
