1. Boy, 6, In Critical Condition After 'Near-Drowning' In Bradenton: Police (patch.com) — Bradenton police say a 6-year-old boy is in critical condition after a near-drowning in a backyard pool on 24th Avenue West, despite rapid life-saving efforts by family and first responders. The child was airlifted to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, and detectives are investigating while emphasizing strict supervision of children around pools and other water in Bradenton neighborhoods.

2. 'Like family.' Downtown Bradenton breakfast restaurant announces closure (bradenton.com) — A longtime favorite breakfast spot in downtown Bradenton, the Sage Biscuit Café on Manatee Avenue West, will close its doors on Sept. 27 after the building owner declined to renew its lease. The Cortez Road location and sister restaurant, the Spotted Rabbit Gastropub, will stay open, with breakfast service expanding there in October for loyal Bradenton customers.

3. Bradenton Moves to Annex Final Pieces of G.T. Bray Park (tbbwmag.com) — Bradenton is finalizing annexation of two small G.T. Bray Park parcels, bringing all city-owned land there fully inside city limits while keeping it dedicated to recreation. Upcoming Planning Commission and City Council votes this fall will align zoning and land use with the rest of the park, without adding new construction or changing current public access.

4. Skip the drive — new ferry route sails straight to Coquina Beach (mysuncoast.com) — Bradenton-area residents can now skip beach traffic thanks to the Gulf Islands Ferry's new route linking the Bridge Street Pier to Coquina Beach five days a week. The 20-minute ride offers an easier way to reach white sand, amenities, and gulf views, while letting riders relax on the water instead of hunting for parking.

5. Driver charged with DUI after hitting Bradenton Beach police car, police say (bradenton.com) — A Bradenton Beach police officer suffered minor injuries when a suspected drunk driver crashed into his patrol car at Cortez Road and 75th Street West after his shift.
