Today's riddle: What is the difference between black eyed peas and chick peas? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Downtown Bradenton Restaurant Closing After 10 Years (patch.com) — Downtown Bradenton diners are losing a longtime favorite as Sage Biscuit Café prepares to close its Manatee Avenue West location on Sept. 27 after a decade, due to the building owner's plans. Regulars are encouraged to visit the Cortez Road sister café and The Spotted Rabbit Gastropub, where some downtown staff will continue serving Bradenton customers.
2. Live roaches found at popular Sarasota pizza restaurant (heraldtribune.com) — Recent state health inspections turned up problems at several Manatee County spots, including Bradenton's The Breakfast Company and Floridays Woodfire Grill & Bar, where sanitizer issues and food-temperature violations prompted warnings and administrative complaints. You can also check which Bradenton-area restaurants earned perfect scores and search a regularly updated database before your next meal out.
3. RoadWatch – 09-16-26 (islander.org) — Drivers in Bradenton should expect weekday construction along 75th Street West near Manatee Avenue West as Manatee County crews relocate utilities and install drainage, typically from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The update also highlights closures in Holmes Beach and Cortez, plus details on the free MCAT trolley running between Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach and the Anna Maria City Pier.
4. Area Republicans rally for Democrat Kirschner against Trump-endorsed Gruters (thebradentontimes.com) — Bradenton's Pier 22 riverfront hosted a rare scene this week: prominent local Republicans publicly endorsed Democrat Kelly Kirschner for the area's congressional seat, breaking with Trump-backed GOP nominee Sydney Gruters. Manatee County and island-city officials argued Kirschner better reflects traditional conservative values and could help pull national politics back toward the center.
