Bradenton area beer lovers might want to take extra care to safeguard their suds.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office reports there’s an armed robber on the loose who doesn’t mind helping himself to other people’s brews as a 53-year-old victim can attest to. The beer thief, deputies say, struck early Wednesday morning outside J-Lo’s Beauty Supply at 1427 57th Ave. E.
It was a little after 4 a.m. when Scott Bentley was approached by a man he knows as David. Bentley was sitting outside the back of the business with two cans of beer in his hand at the time, an email from the sheriff’s office stated. David, deputies say, walked up to Bentley and took the cans of beer right out of his hands.

Bentley protested, the email stated, but David pulled out a knife and threatened to cut him. Not willing to risk it on account of two cans of beer, Bentley fled to a nearby business and called the sheriff’s office for help.

Deputies who answered the call searched the area for David and those two cans of beer. The man, however, was nowhere to be found.
Bentley, deputies say, was not injured in the attack, but he is out about $2 worth of beer. It is unclear what kind of beer was swiped during the attack.
The investigation continues.
