LRHS ceramics/pottery teacher Adela Salas stated, “Ceramics is an activity in which your body and mind have to work together all the time!”

Ceramics/Pottery 1 requires the mastery of three hand building techniques: pinch pots, coil pots, and slabs. Students need to focus on hand-eye coordination, pressure and movement to transfer an idea from paper to clay.

Even Mustangs who don’t master these techniques can still learn helpful life lessons on patience, productivity, and effort that will impact your attitude on work moving forward in life.

“If you are a doctor, you need both your body and mind to be present in order to have a successful surgery, ceramics can teach you that,” added Salas.
