'ArtSlam' Planned for Bradenton Farmers’ Market
This event is free and features interactive art from students, and staff from the School District of Manatee County.

From the School District of Manatee County: Watch students take creativity from the classroom to the streets of downtown for ArtSlam 2017 at the Bradenton Farmers’ Market, this Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. It’s located at Old Main Street (400 12th Street West) in Bradenton. This free event, hosted by Realize Bradenton, features Interactive Art from the following students, and staff from the School District of Manatee County:
- Bayshore High School – “Community Mural” & Dance Performance – Large canvases to be filled by the public with images of Florida wildlife; BHS Dance Team performance at 2 p.m.;
- Haile Middle School – “The Art of Rhythm” – Students will create a visual representation rhythm and its use in creating artwork;
- Lakewood Ranch High School – “UpCycled Art” – Create a masterpiece from recycled materials and learn about the effects of waste on our environment;
- Lee Middle School – Dance Performance – Lee Lightning Performing Group Dancers will perform at 1:30 p.m. at 4th Avenue and Old Main Street;
- Manatee High School – Drumline Performance – Watch the MHS drumline march down Old Main Street and gather as they perform for the crowd at 12 p.m.;
- Manatee School For the Arts – “Up‘Scale’ Fish” – Watch students make a giant fish sculpture using materials found along our shorelines & paint your own scale to be added to the fish;
- Palmetto High School – “Pop Art Face Painting” – Choose from three superhero-themed face paint designs and get your photo taken in front of an artistic comic backdrop;
- Prine Elementary School – “Paint like Pollock” – Express yourself using the creative techniques of famous artist, Jackson Pollock;
- Southeast High School – “Mystical Nymphs” – Full body master paintings of Sea, Fire, and Woodland, also face and body painting;
- The Manatee Art Education Association – “The Great Pretenders” -- Express yourself creatively by crafting a unique and imaginative mask; and more!
