
June 27, 2013 / Sarasota, FL – Attorney F. Scott Westheimer, a managing partner of the Sarasota-based law firm Syprett Meshad, has been named to Florida Trend magazine's 2013 Legal Elite list. This year's list of 1,348 Legal Elite attorneys represents approximately 2 percent of the more than 67,000 Florida Bar members actively practicing in Florida.
In March of this year, Westheimer was elected to the Florida Bar Board of Governors, Twelfth Circuit Representative, Seat One, representing over 1800 attorneys of the Twelfth Circuit, which includes Sarasota, DeSoto, and Manatee counties. He won the office in a contested race against Timothy A. Knowles of Bradenton. Westheimer will be sworn into office on June 28, 2013, during the Florida Bar's annual meeting in Boca Raton, for a two-year term.
Westheimer's practice area involves primarily the representation of plaintiffs in personal injury matters and various aspects of commercial litigation. He has handled cases involving complex personal injury, motorcycle and automobile accidents with severe injuries, premises liability matters, product liabilities’ litigation, medical malpractice litigation and commercial litigation. An Ex Officio member of the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors, Westheimer serves his community in a variety of ways, including as a Past President of both the Sarasota County Bar Association and its Young Lawyers Division, as well as serving on the board of directors of the Humane Society of Sarasota. He joined Syprett Meshad in 1996 and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, and Florida State Courts.
