The baseline grades are calculated using results from the first year of implementation of the new state assessment, Florida’s Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST).

These grades are considered informational only because the 2022-23 school year served as a baseline for this assessment and doesn't include annual student learning gains as part of the school grade calculation.

There won’t be any negative consequences for schools or districts because of these baseline grades, though schools may receive the benefits of an increased school grade by qualifying for school recognition or exiting turnaround status.

Additional upcoming student testing will determine classroom planning through the end of the school year.

“Our teachers and students are currently focused on learning, and we look forward to our results on the 2023-24 FAST Progress Monitor 2 (PM2) assessment to be administered in December and January,” the district said. “Teachers and school leaders will use the results from the PM2 assessment to personalize classroom instruction for the remainder of the school year.”
