Bayshore defeats Braden River High 28-19

Bruins force four key turnovers, returning one for a touchdown, as they spoil Braden River's homecoming game 28-19 on Friday night.

Final: Bayshore 28, Braden River 19

Recap: The Pirates could not hang onto the ball in the 1st quarter. After turning it over twice already, Braden River High fumbled and it was returned by Bayshore for a touchdown. On the ensuing kickoff, the Pirates returned it 63 yards. Several plays later, Braden River quarterback Steven Ross ran it in from four yards out to knot the game up at 7-7. Just before halftime, Bayshore running back Calvin Williams scored to give the Bruins a 14-7 lead heading into the break.

Braden River finally forced a turnover of their own with an interception in the redzone. That led to a second touchdown run by Ross. However, the extra point was missed, keeping the Bruins in front 14-13. The two teams then traded touchdowns late in the 3rd quarter, with Braden River scoring on an 80-yard touchdown by Deion Taylor. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. Bayshore led by two heading in the 4th quarter.

Midway through the 4th quarter, Bayshore's Calvin Williams scored yet again to give the Bruins a 28-19 lead. Braden River had one last chance to rally, but an interception thrown by Ross in the endzone ended any comeback hopes.

Play(s) of the game: For Braden River, Taylor's 80-yard touchdown on the first play after a Bayshore touchdown sparked the team, as well as igniting the home crowd. For Bayshore, the interception in the endzone with 2:01 left in the game sealed the victory.
