Beer Deals During Rays, Marauder Baseball Games
Live music at a few other locations and wine specials at Gecko's on Thursday.
It’s hard not to write about baseball these days, even though this is a column about bars. It’s just that time of the year!
Clancy’s has one of the best deals in town while the Rays are on TV. If you’re up for live baseball, check out the Marauders Thursday night for dollar beers. Tonight also is “Turn Back the Clock Night” as the Marauders pay homage to the Bradenton Growers, McKechnie Field’s original tenants from 1919-26. The players will be wearing 1919 throwback jerseys during the game. See below for more info.

- Gecko’s Grill & Pub, 4310 S.R. 64 E. and 7228 55th Ave. E., appreciates the taste of a fine wine. And both locations are sharing it for reduced prices from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday during “Premium Wine Night.” Get a glass for $3 or a bottle for $12. The evening features new wines from around the world each Thursday. Live music at the State Road 64 location from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday.
- This Thursday night is the last of the “Thirsty Thursdays” at McKechnie Field for a couple weeks. Select draft beers and Pepsi products are only a buck and other drinks are two for the price of one. Game starts at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. The Bradenton Marauders, Advanced A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, welcome the Ft. Meyers Miracle to town for a three-game series. The Miracle are a farm team of the Minnesota Twins. Get your tickets at the McKechnie Field box office, 1611 9th St. W.
- Rays fans, rejoice — or beer fans, because I guess you don’t have to actually watch the game. But whenever the Rays games are on the TV, which it usually is at , 6218 Cortez Rd., Miller Lite and Coors Light aluminum pints are only $10 for five. That’s two bucks a pop, and that’s not bad. And at the end of the seventh inning, Clancy’s isn’t going to cut you off. Rays are playing Friday night, late Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. Get there early: Happy hour is noon to 7 p.m. with discounts on drinks like Guinness pints ($4.75 instead of the regular $5.25).
- , 2907 Cortez Rd., has house band Faultline playing Friday night from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Get there early for happy hour specials from 8 a.m. until noon and again from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Ask your bartender about specials for the day.
