Bicyclist Dies Days After U.S. 41 Crash: Florida Highway Patrol
A Sarasota bicyclist died days after being hit by an SUV while crossing U.S. 41 just north of 22nd Avenue W., Florida Highway Patrol said.
MANATEE COUNTY, FL — A hospitalized bicyclist died Thursday, days after a U.S. 41 crash in Manatee County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The 52-year-old Sarasota man was hit by an SUV Monday around 9:30 a.m. while crossing U.S. 41 north of 22nd Avenue W. on his bicycle, the agency said. He wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The SUV driver, a 31-year-old Bradenton woman, swerved in an attempt to miss the bicyclist, but hit him with the left front of her vehicle, FHP said.

He was brought to Blake Medical Center with critical injuries on Monday morning.
The crash is under investigation.
