Biotechnology Program at SCF to Host Open House

The biotechnology program at SCF will host an open house 4-6 p.m. Aug. 22, Building 26, Room 220, at SCF Bradenton 5840 26th St. W.

The biotechnology program at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will host an open house 4-6 p.m. Aug. 22, Building 26, Room 220, at SCF Bradenton 5840 26th St. W.

Visitors will be able to tour state-of-the-art labs; meet faculty, alumni, students in the program and industry professionals; see some of the hands-on techniques that make up this two-year degree program; and learn about SCF’s biotechnology specialist certificate which can be earned in just two semesters. The degree and certificate program are designed to help graduates compete for life science positions.

The biotechnology program offers specialized training and internships working in biotechnology labs. Students graduate prepared to work for local industries or to transfer to universities, where they can immediately begin conducting research. SCF students have discovered and are researching new organisms leading to the next generation of antibiotics.
