An Experience You Will Never Forget

My name is Pam Hennessy and I would like to share with you my experience as a volunteer at Prospect Riding Center and Three T's Ranch.

Almost two years ago my friend Susan Tambone was explaining to me her dream of opening an equine therapy center on her ranch in Myakka. She inspired me with her enthusiasm and goals. When she mentioned she needed volunteers I quickly offered to become one.

I had very little experience with horses in the past so I wasn't sure what I was volunteering for! I showed up one day and fell in love with the ranch and all Susan has to offer her students and their care givers. I was amazed at the benefit of horse therapy on the very special people who participate, but I was more amazed at how much knowledge Susan has and how she tailors her lessons to the needs of her students. It is so gratifying to see the progress they make, not only while they are on a horse but also in their everyday life.

Susan also has encouraged me to challenge myself and become more comfortable handling the horses and mules. She has taught me so much and I can't thank her enough for sharing her knowledge and friendship with me and my family. She puts her heart and soul into every event she offers to the public and every one walks away with a big smile on their face!

Prospect Riding Center and Three T's Ranch is a place where you can appreciate nature. Besides the horses and mules, everyone enjoys learning about chickens, ducks, turkeys, and cows. Just walking around the ranch is a calming experience.

This is a place where I can let go of stress, enjoy the beauty and peace and feel so lucky to be a small part of it all. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of being a volunteer to check out Prospect Riding Center and Three T's Ranch for an experience you will never forget!
