Construction Moving Along at Arts & Eats' Historic Bungalow in the Village of the Arts

Arts & Eats construction is moving forward in the 1925 bungalow in the Village of the Arts.

Since the permits were issued by the City of Bradenton, our contractor, Mike Lynch of Suncoast Construction has been moving the demolition along.  Most of the walls are down and they've constructed a temporary frame to hold the ceiling up in the current living room. Yikes!

Both bathrooms have been demolished. We'll be using one as the handicap bathroom, while the other one will be replaced by a reception area and mop sink area. Jim had a great idea to use the beautiful glass blocks from the bathroom to construct a wall between the mop sink and the reception. Jim is full of fabulous ideas.

We ordered lighting this week and already received the two ceiling fans. The windows between the porch and dining room will be removed so that we can hang art work in that space.

Our contractor found that they needed to shore up the foundations under the floorboards because they were rotting and too far apart.  That work was done this week. It's amazing how these houses are built on concrete and brick pillars.

So, the saga continues. Stay tuned!
