Manatee County School Board will hold a workshop on October 4th to review information concerning the boundaries for School Board Member Districts.
All School Board Members are voted on across the county as required by the Florida Statutes and each member must live in the District they represent. These boundaries are not balanced by population and two immediate factors come into play, one concerns future candidates for office and our goal should be to have districts be balanced. The second issue comes up in being able to determine where your district is for School Board.
At present if you were to go to the Supervisor of Elections to be a candidate for School Board, you would be referred to the School Administration to verify your District. The maps should be clear, concise and easy to read and identify each street across the county and they should be posted on the Supervisor of Election's web site. Redistricting for School Board Member Boundaries can only be done in odd years and with December holidays, we have about 60 days to complete any workshops, hearings and vote on this process.

Another issue of concern at the moment is the removal of Pinnacle grading and attendance program and the implementation of the Focus grading and attendence program. Board members have been notified that the problems with implementation and computer communication systems is being corrected as soon as possible to have the complete system up and running. Parents are projected to be able to go on line for report viewing by January.
