Cradling a guitar instead of a gun can bring healing and solace. For veterans returning from war, music can be a therapy and a joy. Creating their own songs and learning to play the guitar are powerful mental health tools.
Relaxing in a room full of other military folks who have walked in your shoes, sharing feelings and frustrations can be the best kind of self-help program for veterans. When you donate to provide a guitar to the MOTS Veterans Music Program you are helping hometown heroes heal. Help vets reconnect with music.
This is the newest giving project on Gulfcoastgives.org for Manasota Operation Troop Support. We have a goal of $875 to buy guitars for our local returned troops who want to get this project started. But it is stuck at $775. With just a short time to go on this public grant I am spotlighting it here today on Bradenton Patch hoping for more exposure and more participation.

I have seen what Patch readers can do when they know there is a need. Our children's shoe drive was a huge Patch-driven success!
MOTS has two guitar instructors committed and ready to teach this course which will be held at our office in Lakewood Business Park.

You can also donate your used guitars to help this program succeed. Do you have one dusty and forgotten in the closet that could be coaxed back to life by a soldier learning chords? Call me at 941-782-0748, I will pick them up and get them into the waiting arms of a soldier, sailor, or Marine.
