Need a Pinch Hitter this Thanksgiving?

Inevitably, someone always forgets the potluck side dish, the corn soufflé falls off the counter, and/or Pillsbury crescent rolls begin to char.

The holidays are crazy, plain and simple: Relatives flying in from all ends of the country, laughter filling the air, and the infamous “Uncle Larry” having one too many libations and getting rowdy around the good dishware. Inevitably, someone always forgets the potluck side dish, the corn soufflé falls off the counter, and/or Pillsbury crescent rolls begin to char. My family and I have decided to head off this impending doom by doing something novel…planning ahead.

This revelation of sorts should have happened eons ago, however I am so excited about its prospect this year that I’ll forgo ranting and be content in my stomach's soon to be happiness and holiday bliss. We’re doing Lee Roy Selmon’s sides for Thanksgiving this year, people, and I am one giddy individual.

This is a no brainer!  I feel a little silly, nay stupid, for not having this ingenious idea sooner.  You can get “Sideline” sides by the quart, which serves 4-6 people for only 7.99.  I’m talking Cheese & Bacon Grits, Smashed Potatoes, Brown and Wild Rice Infusion, Greens Medley and the list goes on.  It’s an awesome price for some premium side dishes that are not only delicious, but made for you…again I repeat…delicious food that is pre-made for you!

After taking another gander at the menu, the family and I also decided to add on some Mac and Cheeses made with Smoked Gouda and Cheddar, Mama Selmon’s Cajun Gumbo, and Dinner Rolls.  We’re doing our own Turkey and some other passed down traditional dishes, but if you’re in the mood for something other than the bird, there are options for that hankering, too!  Smokehouse specialties, i.e., pulled pork, brisket, smoked chicken breasts, and ribs, are sold by the pound averaging around $8.

I’m literally salivating. It’s an amazing alternative to the regular and definitely helps out the chef in the kitchen at home. It also gives truth to the adage of spending the holiday together instead of wasting it on preparation.
