HurraYawn - A Long Night at the Ballpark
It was a long,, but FUN night as Marauders play 16 innings into the late hours Thursday.
Do you know those nights when you just can't stay awake? You should have come to McKechnie field on Thursday night - the Marauders were hosting the Charlotte Stone Crabs for a thrid consecutive night, as they played 16 innings of baseball.
Do you know what 16 innings of baseball is?
That's 2 complete games plus 2 innings. That's almost 5 hours of continuous baseball. That's a lot of dedicated fans staying up past their bedtime to support the local team. That's a LOT OF FUN, actually!

My wife and I have season tickets on ther first base side, near the dugout. We have lots of fellow season ticket holders/friends who sit around the same area. We cheer for the players and root them on the best way we can, in hopes it motivates them to make that extra catch or to steal an extra base just for us.
Last night however, they needed us to motivate them to keep playing into the late hours.

It was 'Thirsty Thursday' night - $1 draft beer/$1 sodas, which always draws a decent crowd. It was also "Bark in the Park" where folks could bring their dogs to the game for an extra $2 per pooch.
It was a mixed crowd of fans, dogs and baseball. A fun mixture that I have to admit I wasn't sure about (we're cat people, afteerall). Nothing against dogs at all, but they need attention and walking, etc so I wasn't sure how calm they would be while their owners watched baseball. Surpriseingly, they all acted very well,. Never saw a bad one in the bunch.
Back to motivating the players. Fans and dogs alike were howling and barking as the game continued on...11th inning, 12th, 13th, then the 14th came along and we stood up for round 2 of 'Take me out to the ballgame.' We added 'again' to the song to change it up a bit..."Take me out to the ball game (again) take me out with the crowd (again)..." you get the idea.
By the time the gane ended. we were so silly and tired we were laughing at anything and everything going on. What a crazy fun night!
Looks like the dog days of Summer arrived early last night (pun intended!)
BTW we lost 3-2, but still had a blast! COME ON OUT to a game or two.
