A 29-year-old Bradenton man is in critical condition following a Sunday evening accident on Rye Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Michael Dilandro was traveling south on Rye Road in the middle lane when he was struck by an Oldsmobile Silhouette driven by Isela Mejia, 16, of Bradenton around 8:30 p.m.

Dilandro was “wearing dark clothing and did not have any lights on his bicycle,” a media release from the patrol stated. The teen driver could not see Dilandro in the road due to his dark clothing, the patrol said. The front left of the Silhouette struck the rear of the bike.
