Bradenton Officer Recovering After Run-In With Suspect's Car

The Thursday afternoon incident resulted in a 23-year-old man getting shot several times and an officer being struck by a car.

Bradenton Police Officer Nasheka Craddock is on the mend following a Thursday afternoon incident at a nursing home that resulted in gunfire and a run-in with a suspect’s car.

The incident unfolded at Casa Mora Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, 1902 59th St. W., when Craddock and Sgt. Anthony Ramdath were called out to investigate a harassment complaint, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Once there, the officers issued a trespass warning to Jarques Randall, 23, and sent him on his way. The officers, however, later learned Randall had a suspended license, so they returned to look into that matter and discovered Randall was attempting to reenter the business, Bay News 9 reported.

At that point, Ramdath tried to take Randall into custody, but he refused and fled from the scene, the station reported. Craddock caught up with him in the parking lot where he proceeded to strike her with his car, the station reported.

Craddock ended up firing five shots at Randall’s car, hitting him several times, The Tribune reported. Yet, he continued to flee the scene, leading police on a chase that resulted in several car crashes.

Randall and Craddock were both taken to Blake Medical Center for treatment, Bay News 9 reported. Randall faces as host of criminal and civil charges upon his medical release. His injuries are described as not life-threatening.

As for Craddock, “She is doing better,” Lt. James Racky wrote in an email Friday morning.

The officer was recently featured as part of the Bradenton Police Department’s Police Women of Bradenton series on Facebook.

“Officer Craddock loves her profession and strives to help as many people as she possibly can,” the post on the Naples native read. She joined the force in October 2006.
