Bradenton's Perez Pitches Scoreless Inning in MLB All-Star Game
The Cleveland Indians closer, who once played for the Pendleton School and Manatee High, appeared in the AL's 5-1 loss to the NL on Tuesday.

Bradenton native Chris Perez was almost perfect in his first taste of All-Star Game competition.
Perez, who played for the Pendleton School and , pitched a scoreless sixth inning for the American League squad in Tuesday night's game, a 5-1 National League victory in Arizona.
The Cleveland Indians closer retired Matt Kemp on a flyout to right field and got Joey Votto to strike out swinging before allowing a double to Yadier Molina, Perez's former teammate with the St. Louis Cardinals. He retired Justin Upton on a liner to left to finish the inning.

During his appearance, Fox TV broadcaster Joe Buck noted Perez is a "big fan of rock and roll." The network even mentioned Perez's most recent Tweet: "Song of the Day: 'For Those About to Rock' #AC/DC."
The right-hander is enjoying a breakout 2011, with 21 saves and a 2.43 ERA at the All-Star break.
