Catch Of The Week: Toad Of A Flounder Landed Off Anna Maria Beaches

Capt. Warren Girle, an Anna Maria Island resident, guided a Michigan man to three flounder of more than 3 pounds, including this 4-pound delicacy.

Angler: Dan Thornell of Grand Haven, Mich.

Fish: Flounder.

Weight: 4 pounds.

Quotable: “That was just a phenomenal catch,” Capt. Warren Girle said. “It was a joke. That was the first day anyone could get offshore and, of course, no one was on the fish so they were happier and hungrier.”
