Bait: Live shrimp, tail pinched for scent, on a 1/0 Owner "J" hook.
Conditions: Calm seas, water temperature in the mid-60s.
Quotable: Todd Mast: “What made the catch cool was that these fish were in full spawn offshore, and we think it made them very aggressive on their feed. Sheepshead are known for their pecking at the bait and stealing your shrimp, but on this day they would slam your shrimp like a grouper — no pecking, just a strait, hard pull. And catching them in deeper water on light tackle — 10-pound test — made the catch that much funner.”
Guide: Capt. Jimmy Nelson, host of Extreme Fishing Adventures, can be seen on BrightHouse Sports Network at 10 p.m. Sundays and 10 a.m. Tuesdays.
