Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

Most bars in town have drink specials this Saturday and Old Main Street is hosting a 'Get Down'-style bash.

Old Main Street will be transformed into downtown Bradenton’s biggest party Saturday in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

Set up for the event begins at 3 p.m. after the weekly Downtown Bradenton Farmers’ Market wraps up, so heads up motorists, Old Main Street (12th Street West between Manatee and 3rd avenues) isn't going to be available Saturday.

The event, put on by the Old Main Street Merchants Association, officially starts at 4 p.m. Dozens of vendors from around the area and beyond are planning to line both sides of the historic street with tasty food, arts and crafts and everything in between.

Audea, a Florida-based Indie band, opens for the Muphin Chuckrs around 5:15 p.m. and will play for about 90 minutes. The Muphin Chuckrs are scheduled to take the stage at 7 p.m.

We've heard McCabe’s Irish Pub, 302 Old Main St., has live Top 40 music from Danny Wampole and , 313 Old Main St.. has specials on Mexican beers and drinks.

Here are 'cinco' more celebrations in Bradenton on Saturday:

 If you’re looking for a low key Cinco de Mayo, check out the , 420 301 Blvd. E. The bar hosts a casual dinner-and-drinks party on the first Saturday of every month starting at 5 p.m. courtesy of the Dorics family, the bar’s owners for more than 50 years. Roger Dorics is grilling the chicken and side dishes will be provided by some of the regulars. Free food!

, 4307 26th St. W., is host to one of the hottest Cinco de Mayo parties in town. DJ Manny and the Cellar dancers are entertaining all evening starting at 10 p.m. Drink specials include $1 Coronas and mango margaritas from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. After 11 p.m., they’re $2 until close.

, 4343 Palma Sola Blvd., has live music from "Zydeco Sweetheart" Rosie Ledet at 9 p.m. Zydeco dance lessons start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Corona beer specials all day. This is a non-smoking show.

, 2604 Manatee Ave. E., has Mexican food, a piñata breaking and drink specials starting at 7 p.m. If you dislike Mariachi music, this is the place to be, because they’re making a point of stating “No Mariachi bands here – just spicy food and cold beer.”

Bradenton’s two Gecko’s Grill & Pubs, on and , will feature Corona and Corona Light for $3 and flavored house margaritas for $2. Dinner specials include chicken tequitos, pork tacos and more.
