Chris Scott, Saint Stephen's Boys Soccer

Saint Stephen's senior Chris Scott scored two goals and tallied an assist in the Falcons' 3-0 win over Tampa Prep in the Class 2A-Region 3 semifinals. Scott has scored 23 goals this season.

"I have over 30 years of experience in the game. I played with two first-team All-Americans in high school and was on two state championship teams, but I've never seen a player put his team on his back the way that Chris has done this season." -- Saint Stephen's assistant coach Bernard Yanelli on Chris Scott.

How long have you played soccer?: I've played soccer my whole life. I started the earliest that you can actually start playing. I've also been a forward the entire time.

Do you play any other sports?: Actually, I played football this year because the team needed a few people. I played basketball pretty much as long as I played soccer, but I had to stop playing basketball because basketball season and soccer season go together. I played a little tennis for two or three years.

How long have you attended ?: Since Kindergarten, so I'm a lifer.

What do you like most about Saint Stephen's?: Just the community. I think academically that it is an exceptional school. It's priceless how they have prepared me for my future. It's just a great community with great teachers. The teachers are very good at making relationships with their students, which makes for a very good learning environment.

What are you going to miss most about high school soccer?: The relationship with my teammates and my coaches. You really get to know everybody well because you spend so much time with them. My teammates are pretty much my best friends during the season. I'm just going to miss that a lot and the competitive nature of this team. This year, this team has played for each other.

What is going to be your college major?: I plan on majoring in business and minoring in economics. If things go well, maybe a law degree in the future.

Favorite subject: I don't know if I want to answer this because I love all my subjects. One of my favorites would be economics, but I don't want to sound like I'm brown-nosing my teacher (Bernard Yanelli) because he is one of my soccer coaches. I just think that economics is a really important class.

Do you listen to a particular song or recording artist before a match?: Usually, I listen to Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jason Mraz or stuff like that on game day. In my opinion, the more relaxed that I am the better I play.

What type of cell phone do you have?: I have an Android. I pretty sure that it's an Android.

Favorite TV show: I really don't watch much TV. I really like watching the NBA. Every now and then, I'll try to watch some soccer. My weekends are pretty packed, so I watch the NBA because it usually airs on weeknights. If I had to say what my favorite TV show is, I would just say ESPN in general.

Favorite movie: Those that are on the top of my list are "The Matrix" and The Bourne Identity series.

Favorite book: "Enders Game" (by Orson Scott Card).

Where do you see yourself in 10-15 years?: I see myself probably somewhere up north, maybe in a big city, if I'm in business or law at that point. I hope to have a family of my own by then, but I do love Florida and plan on coming back because my family is here. I do aspire to live up north for at least a few years and see how it is because I want to try something new.
