CodeRED Weather Warnings Keep Residents Informed

Manatee County residents are urged to sign up for the free alerts.

BRADENTON, FL — Manatee County residents who want to stay on top of emergency weather alerts as they are issued have a place to turn.

The county’s CodeRED Weather Warning system provides free voice, text or email notifications that are delivered to users when emergency information is issued by government and public safety officials. All residents need to do to receive the alerts from Manatee County Government is fill out an online form. Once that’s done, emergency alerts and severe weather warnings will be sent directly to residents. Users can even customize the kinds of alerts they receive to include tornado, severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings.

Forecasters have warned that severe weather conditions are likely throughout the winter courtesy of the El Nino weather pattern. Already, Manatee and Sarasota counties both have witnessed landfall of EF2-rated tornadoes.
