Cold-Case Arrest Warrant Issued In 2014 Bradenton Murder: Sheriff

After years of investigation, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant in the 2014 killing of an SUR 13 gang member.

BRADENTON, FL — Detectives issued an arrest warrant for Pedro “Pedico” Garcia in the 2014 murder of Samuel Conde in Bradenton, authorities said.

Following years of investigation, detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office’s Homicide Investigative Unit charged Garcia, 39, with second-degree murder in the cold case, according to a news release from the agency.

Garcia is currently serving time in the Federal Bureau of Prisons on firearm convictions, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses to the shooting have remained “tight lipped” about what happened, but investigators learned during recent interviews evidence that Garcia was the person who shot and killed Conde during a gang-related incident on Dec. 20, 2014.

Conde, who was 25 at the time of his death, went by "Spanky" and was an SUR 13 gang member, the sheriff's office said.

He was shot in the early morning hours while drinking at 3704 Ninth Street E., a place where people went to illegally buy beer after area bars closed.
