Kids 5-11 Can Get The COVID-19 Vaccine From Manatee County Department Of Health

The Department of Health in Manatee County will offer the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 at Bradenton and Sarasota sites.

MANATEE COUNTY, FL β€” Children as young as 5 years old can now get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through the Department of Health in Manatee County.

The vaccine will be available to children ages 5 to 17 at the health department’s main campus at 410 Sixth Ave. E. in Bradenton Monday through Friday, from 1 to 4:30 p.m., when school is in session, the DOH said in a news release.

During holiday break, children in that age range can get vaccinated at the following sites:

  • DOH’s main campus (410 Sixth Ave. E., Bradenton): Nov. 22-24, and Dec. 27 to Jan. 5, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • DOH’s Manatee South Center (7780 Westmoreland Drive, Sarasota): Nov. 24 and Dec. 22, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Federal health officials have gave the go-ahead to COVID-19 vaccinations for Florida children ages 5 to 11 more than a week ago.

The CDC authorization for younger children makes more than 1.6 million Florida kids immediately eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

Children who get vaccinated by the Manatee County health department will be given goodie bags filled with coloring pages, crayons, stickers, buttons and special vaccination card holders.

The bags also include free admission coupons to the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature and a flyer encouraging anyone who gets vaccinated to present their vaccination card at Menchie’s for a free 5-ounce frozen yogurt.

The vaccine can also be found through private medical providers, local retail pharmacies or at vaccines.gov.

Appointments are available at select Walgreens, CVS and Publix locations.
