Deputies Searching for Rape Suspect

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help locating a man it says sexually battered a 9-year-old girl late Thursday evening.

According to deputies, the attack occurred in Bayshore Gardens. When notified, detectives launched an investigation and uncovered enough evidence to obtain a capital sexual battery arrest warrant for Excellent Jean-Giles, 61. The victim, deputies say, knew her attacker.

“Detectives have reason to believe the suspect will flee the area if he hasn’t already,” an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.
