While On Patrol, Deputy Hits, Kills Pedestrian In Bradenton: Manatee County Sheriff
A woman was hit and killed by a Manatee County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicle in Bradenton early Thursday morning, MCSO said.
BRADENTON, FL β A Manatee County Sheriffβs Office deputy hit and killed a pedestrian while on patrol in Bradenton early Thursday morning.
Around 3:45 a.m., the deputy was driving south in the 6400 block of 15th Street East when a woman walked into his vehicleβs path, the sheriffβs office said in a news release.
Despite the deputyβs βquick effortsβ avoid hitting her, the victim was struck by the patrol vehicleβs right front bumper, MCSO said. The woman slid onto the hood and hit the windshield before rolling off into the road.

βThe portion of the roadway where the crash occurred was dark and poorly lit,β the sheriffβs office said.
EMS responded and attempted life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:52 a.m. The deputy was uninjured in the crash.
