Detwiler’s Farm Market Opening New West Bradenton Location
The Sarasota grocer will open its 6th location this fall. Detwiler's owners said shoppers can expect new departments at the Bradenton store.

BRADENTON, FL — Detwiler’s Farm Market is expanding with its sixth location in Sarasota and Manatee counties with plans for a new store to open in West Bradenton by the fall of this year.
The grocer signed a lease for the 49,000-square-foot anchor space in the Marketplace West shopping center at the corner of 53rd Avenue and 34th Street, according to a news release from the company.
The shopping plaza, owned by Benderson Development, will be renamed Detwiler’s Marketplace.

The brand, which is family owned and operated, got its start in 2002 as a roadside produce stand. Today, the Detwiler’s chain currently has three brick-and-mortar locations in Sarasota, as well as stores in Venice and Palmetto.
The store on Palmer Boulevard in Sarasota remains closed because of damages caused by Hurricane Ian, according to the company website.

Now, the company has set its sights on its newest location.
“Another 49,000-square-foot Detwiler’s is coming to the Bradenton area,” Sam Detwiler said in a video. “So super stoked. We got a lot of cool stuff. We’re working on floor plans.”
His father, Henry Detwiler, Sr., said, “We’re also excited about being able to bring the Farm Market here to West Bradenton. We know we already have served some of you, but we hope to be able to do a better job.”
The father and son teased to this Detwiler’s location having some new offerings.
“Lots of produce, lots of meat, seafood. I grew up a butcher, so I’m always excited about what we do in meat, but also, then, have sole lots and lots of producer,” Henry said. “I think this time, maybe, we’re gonna do a little bit better job with our deli and bakery. We want that to be big and nice.”
Sam added, “We have a few things maybe up our sleeves at this store; maybe some new departments coming; some things we kind of want to add to our Farm Market experience. I don’t want to release it yet because it may not happen.”
The company previously hoped to expand with a sixth store several years ago, but their plans were set back because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sam added. “I think our company is ready for another step and we’re super stoked that we’re able to reach a deal. We can’t wait to shape that Winn Dixie front to a new Detwiler’s barn.”
