Driver Dies After Truck Overturns In Retention Pond: FL Highway Patrol
An Ellenton man died after losing control of his pickup truck and overturning in a retention pond, Florida Highway Patrol said.
PARRISH, FL — An Ellenton man is dead after losing control of his pickup truck and overturning in a Parrish retention pond early Tuesday morning, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The 62-year-old man was driving north on U.S. 301, south of Chin Road, when he lost control of his truck just before 1 a.m.
As the truck veered left, he steered it back to the right trying to regain control, the agency said. The truck entered the grass shoulder, hit a wooden sign and overturned into a pond east of U.S. 301.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
